InterACT is a non-profit organisation supported by a dedicated international team of Teaching Artists, and experts in the fields of arts-education and educational policy.

At InterACT we believe that all students deserve access to arts, cultural exchange and foreign language education regardless of their social-economic or educational background.

Our Teaching Artists visit small towns, villages, and cities sharing their passion for immersive education though games, team activities, art projects, music, and performance.

Through this engagement our Teaching Artists help to foster an appreciation and tolerance for culture, diversity, the arts, and education. Helping young people become well-balanced global citizens.

FAQs - Teaching Artists

How good should my English language skills be?

We’re mainly hiring English Native Speakers. For our overnight holiday camps we are also hiring non-Native Speakers (C2 level including grammar accent required).

Is this Full-Time, Part-Time, or Freelance?

This is a FREELANCE CONTRACT position. You will need to have a freelance working visa and the ability to write invoices to take jobs with us.

Your website explains that you hire artists, do I need to be an artist to apply?

Nope! We do hire a lot of artists due to the creative side of our projects, but you don’t necessarily have to be an artist to be “creative”. Explain to us your creative side and examples where you had to be creative in your teaching experience.

How many days would I work per project?

Our projects typically range from 1 to 7 days in duration, with the most common duration being 5 days, Monday through Friday.

Must I have experience working with children or in the education field?

Ideally, we look for people that have already worked in the education, art, and or instructing fields. More specifically, working with children. However, we understand the potential for growth and experience in this field and encourage those seeking with passion in the education field to apply.

What is the pay like?

At InterACT English, our compensation is among the best in the industry up to 700+ € a week plus bonus plans.

Additionally, we offer free train discount cards (BahnCard 50), a free Space to use in Berlin, regular team events, free professional development workshops in our own Teaching Artist Academy and a well-developed Knowledge Base.

Are there training sessions to learn more about InterACT and how to instruct your programs?

Yes, before we can send you out into the world as a Teaching Artist, we have to give you all the knowledge of our curriculums, policies, rules, and general knowledge of InterACT English itself. We’ll have a 90 mins Online Onboarding and a 4 hour in-person training in Berlin (travel costs will be reimbursed). There’s additional Holiday Camp training if you’re interested in being considered for those as well.

Are there legal requirements to work as a Teaching Artist in Germany?

To work with children in Germany, you need a clean Police Report (Erweitertes Führungszeugnis). If hired, we'll guide you through the easy process of obtaining it.

Additionally, you’ll need to proof your immunity against Measles and have a valid work permit that allows freelance work.

Do I need to live in Berlin to be a teacher with InterACT English?

Nope! Since 90% of our projects are outside of Berlin, we accept applications from all over Germany and we already have plenty of our teachers living outside of Berlin. However, to be considered to work with InterACT English, you must already live in Germany and have all legal documents.

If you have any questions that you didn’t find answered on this page, please contact us at: jobs@interactenglish.de

Is InterACT a school?

InterACT English is not a school. We send our teachers to schools all over Germany to deliver our programs. We also work off-site at Jugendherberge (youth hostels) where we deliver camps and class trips.

What are the Visa Requirements?

You must have a valid freelancer visa in Germany to work or apply to work with us. Sorry, we cannot offer visa sponsorship.

Where are InterACT’s projects located?

90% of InterACT English’s programs are outside of Berlin and are spread throughout the entire country. From far up north to the very tip of the south, we are constantly invited to youth hostels where we have our camps and to schools where we have our in-school programs.

Unless the project is close to your residence you will be required the day before the project starts to ensure you are there on time for the following day's program. Travel and accommodation are paid for and organized by InterACT’s project coordination team.

How many projects can I do per month?

Many TAs work 2-3 weeks per month at InterACT. The yearly schedule varies somewhat due to school holidays and camps. Based on your availability, which programs you teach, and how your work is reviewed from schools, students, and parents is how you will be offered work orders. Our most successful TAs can count on a pretty consistent amount of work.
